He is an award-winning journalist and editor who previously served as the deputy editor of food and dining at the Chicago Tribune, and senior editor at Thrillist, SevenFifty Daily, and Wine Enthusiast. He has also written for Eater, Condé Nast Traveler, and The Wall Street Journal, covering food, wine/drinks, travel, and culture.
The Philadelphia Inquirer has named Lisa Hughes publisher and CEO. She comes from The New Yorker where she spent the past several years in the same capacity. Before that, she was the publisher and marketing officer of Conde Nast Traveler.
Brian Bergstein is the new deputy opinion editor for the Boston Globe focusing on science and tech topics. He was most recently an editor at large for NEO.LIFE and before that spent several years at MIT Technology Review in various positions, including deputy editor and executive editor. Fox News Channel has updated its 3 p.m. lineup by adding a new anchor. Bill Hemmer has replaced Shepard Smith as anchor of the afternoon timeslot, now named “Bill Hemmer Reports.” He has been with Fox since 2005 and most recently anchored the “America’s Newsroom” broadcast. Prior to Fox, Hemmer spent a decade at CNN.
Mark Hiner has been promoted to executive producer at FOX’s “America's Newsroom.” He was most recently a senior producer for “Shepard Smith Reporting” and joined Fox in 2011 as a writer on the program. Prior to that, Hiner worked at WSVN-TV in Miami as a weekend producer and at WCSC-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, as a 6pm producer.
The Verge has brought on Monica Chin as a reporter covering laptops. She was previously a senior tech reporter at Business Insider and before that wrote reviews, breaking news and features on consumer technology for Tom’s Guide for a little over a year. Prior to that, Chin was an editorial technology fellow at Mashable.
Xinyi Liang-Pholsena is the new Asia editor for Skift. She started on Jan 28 and is based in Bangkok, Thailand. She previously spent seven years at TTG Asia Media, most recently as the editor of TTG Asia. Before that, she was an assistant editor for Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia.
WCVB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Boston, has promoted Nneka Faison to executive producer of The Chronicle, the station’s magazine show airing weeknights at 7:30 p.m. She joined WCVB-TV in 2013 as a producer and reporter for the news magazine and most recently served as its managing editor.
