Business Insider has welcomed a new reporter and promoted two others:
- Palmer Haasch has joined the staff as junior digital culture reporter and covers fandom, online communities, TikTok, memes, and general internet culture. She was most recently a temporary entertainment writer for Thrillist and before that interned at Polygon.
- Ben Goggin has been promoted to senior editor, digital culture, and covers the internet, memes, influencers, and teens. He was most recently a digital culture editor and has been on staff since 2018 when he joined as weekend editor.
- Megan Hernbroth is now a senior reporter at Business Insider. She is based in the San Francisco bureau and covers venture capital and start-ups. Hernbroth was previously a reporter for the outlet and has been on staff since April 2019.
Richard MacManus is the new senior editor for The New Stack, a news and analysis site about the services and infrastructures that developers build and the cultural impact that has on the way we work and live. MacManus is a longtime author of technology and culture books, and has also written for Cybercultural, Augment Intelligence, and Newsroom NZ.
Block Club Chicago has hired Jake Wittich as a reporter to cover the Lakeview/Boystown/Lincoln Park neighborhoods; he starts in June. Wittich is currently covering local news with an LGBTQ focus as a weekend reporter at the Chicago Sun-Times and as a freelancer for Block Club Chicago. He has also contributed to various LGBTQ publications including the Windy City Times.
Claudia Vargas has swapped print reporting for broadcast news and has joined NBC’s WCAU-TV and Telemundo's WWSI-TV duoplay in Philadelphia as an investigative reporter. She previously spent a decade at the Philadelphia Inquirer where she reported on government and politics. Before that, Vargas worked as a reporter for the Democrat and Chronicle.
WTTW-TV, the PBS station in Chicago, has welcomed Heather Cherone as digital news reporter covering City Hall. She was previously a managing editor for The Daily Line and prior to that reported for the now-defunct DNAInfo community news website.
