Media Moves at Indianapolis Star & POPSUGAR, Business Insider Promotes Three

Jessica Harrington is the new associate beauty editor at POPSUGAR in New York. She shifted to this new role after spending the past six months in the same position for L’Oreal’s and, websites operated by POPSUGAR. Harrington joined the company in early 2019 as an assistant beauty editor and before that worked as an editorial assistant at SheFinds Media.

The Indianapolis Star has named Katrice Hardy executive editor. She joined Gannett in 2016 and serves as the USA TODAY Network’s regional editor for the South, overseeing newsrooms in Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina and Louisiana. Prior to Gannett, Hardy spent more than two decades at The Virginian-Pilot in various positions.

Shaun Waterman has been appointed a contributing editor for AFCEA's SIGNAL magazine, writing monthly about cybersecurity, identity security and emerging technologies. Waterman continues to freelance in Washington, D.C., for Air Force Magazine, StateTech and other outlets. He is an award-winning journalist who has worked for the BBC, UPI and POLITICO among others. In 2014-2017, he successfully launched two of the best-respected DC cybersecurity newsletters — POLITICO's Morning Cybersecurity and Scoop News Group's CyberScoop.

Business Insider has announced three top editorial promotions:

  • Cadie Thompson has been promoted to deputy executive editor, upped from deputy business editor where she oversaw the tech, transportation, and retail desks. Moving forward, she will oversee the advertising, media, and PR desks. Thompson has been with Business Insider since 2015 and joined the staff after several years at CNBC.
  • Olivia Oran has also been promoted to deputy executive editor and will oversee healthcare, energy, legal, finance, investing, and markets. She was most recently a deputy editor and joined Business Insider in 2018 from Reuters.
  • Meredith Mazzilli has been promoted to senior finance editor after spending the past several months as the finance editor. She will continue leading coverage on banks, asset managers, hedge funds, wealth managers, payments, credit cards, real estate, fintech, and more. Mazzilli joined Business Insider in 2019 after eight years at Reuters.

Max Willens has been promoted to senior reporter at Digiday. He was previously a reporter for the outlet and has been on staff since 2016. Prior to that, Willens was a staff writer at IBT Media, where he wrote about the economics of the entertainment business.

CBSN, CBS’ digital streaming news network, has hired Sakina Bowser as a news producer. She comes from TEGNA in Florida where she most recently served as a producer. Bowser has also produced for WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, and KHBS-TV in Arkansas.
