Dow Jones has welcomed Joshua Stein as a reporter focusing on German corporations. He spent the past three-and-a-half years as a freelance data and human right journalist and has written for Times, the Times Educational Supplement, Byline Times, and Teachwire. Stein is also a former reporter at New Civil Engineer and has interned at Deutsche Welle.
Katherine Long, a business reporter at the Seattle Times, has moved to a new beat. She now covers Amazon and the big tech industry. Long has been at the paper since mid-2019 and has since covered real estate and the Port of Seattle. Prior to that, she was briefly an associate producer at The New York Times on episode of The Weekly investigating terrorism attack in Tajikistan, which earned her an Emmy. Before that, Long worked for Vox Media as a researcher.
Slate has hired Karen Han as culture writer covering movies, TV, entertainment, and video games. She comes from Polygon where she covered similar topics as an entertainment reporter for two years. Han has also worked at Vox Media as a culture writer, and has freelanced for The New York Times, The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, VICE, The Village Voice, and NYMag/Vulture.
Erin Douglas has joined The Texas Tribune as environment reporter. She was most recently a business reporter at The Houston Chronicle for two years and covered the economy, labor, employment, energy, and the environment. Before that, Douglas interned at Bloomberg and The Denver Post.
KXXV-TV, the ABC station in Waco, Texas, has promoted Sylvia Villarreal to news director. She has been at the station since 2015 and has served as executive producer and assistant news director. Previously, Villarreal has worked for CBS Newspath and KTVT-TV in Dallas.
Vi Nguyen has joined WMAQ-TV, the NBC station in Chicago, as multimedia journalist and general assignment reporter. She started October 26. Nguyen comes from WBBM-TV, the CBS station in Chicago, where she was a per diem reporter since 2018. Before that, she was a reporter and multimedia journalist for WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana.
WYCD-FM (99.5) country radio in Detroit has added Josh Holleman to mornings. He joins co-hosts Rachael Hunter and Steve Grunwald as part of “Josh, Rachael and Grunwald in the Morning” airing weekdays from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. Holleman was most recently an afternoon host at WIL St. Louis and has also previously worked for WDZH-FM in Detroit.
