Media Moves at Vulture, Forbes & The New York Times, ‘Post Reports’ Names Executive Producer

Vulture, the entertainment site of New York magazine, has announced three new hires:

  • Melvin Backman has joined the site as special projects editor and general features editor. He will oversee editorial packages and manage Vulture’s In Conversation franchise. Beckman comes from The New Yorker, where. he was most recently a fact-checker and wrote and edited for its website. Before that, he was a finance reporter at Quartz and CNNMoney.
  • Madeline Leung Coleman is the new senior editor for New York magazine’s Culture Pages and Vulture. She will curate the magazine section and work to increase feature output across the website. She was most recently an editor at The Nation and Topic magazine.
  • Emily Heller has joined Vulture as recommendations editor. She will work on the site's output of lists, guides, streaming coverage, e-commerce suggestions, and news. She was previously a staff writer at Vox Media’s Polygon and before that wrote and edited across a variety of Vox Media sites.

The New York Times has named Anton Troianovski Moscow bureau chief. He has been at the paper since 2019 and joined the staff as Moscow corresponded. Prior to that, he worked as the Moscow bureau chief at The Washington Post, and a Berlin reporter for The Wall Street Journal before that.

Margherita Beale has joined Forbes as assistant editor, business, and focuses on the retail, real estate, and food and drink industries. She is based in Sacramento, California, and previously worked for the Daily Democrat in Woodland, California. She has also freelanced for the Sacramento News & Review.

Maggie Penman is now the executive producer of “Post Reports.” She has been at The Washington Post since 2018 and as part of the “Post Reports” team since its inception. Penman has been the team’s senior producer for the past year and acting executive producer for the past month. Prior to The Post, she worked for NPR and WGBH News. "Post Reports" is the daily podcast from The Washington Post.

WXOW-TV, the ABC station in La Crosse, Wisconsin, has moved Dustin Luecke to the evening anchor desk as a news anchor/producer. He replaces Scott Hackworth, who announced his retirement. Luecke was most recently a morning news anchor at the station and joined the staff in 2009, while he was still in college.

Adam Atchison is the new evening anchor at KKTV-TV, the CBS station in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He has been with the station since 2018 and most recently served as the morning news anchor. Prior to that, Atchison  worked in New Mexico for three years on the morning team of KRQE in Albuquerque, and before that, he spent seven years as a morning anchor at fellow Colorado Springs station KOAA.
