As PR professionals we all compete for jobs, clients, the attention of journalists, and the mind share of audiences, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t work together to get better at what we do. We think there are some pretty great resources out there that might help you learn something new or inspire you to contribute to the conversation. Here are a few of our favorite PR blogs (beside this one, of course), in no particular order:
PR-Squared – PR-Squared (by globally recognized social media and public relations thought leader, Todd Defren) is routinely among PR, journalist and media must read lists.
Brian Solis – Brian Solis is a regular contributor to leading business and industry publications including USAToday, Wired, FastCompany, VentureBeat, Harvard Business Review, and others. We enjoyed last week’s guest post by Fred Studer (Chief Marketing Officer at NetSuite) titled “Completely Rethinking Marketing Is Essential in Today’s Customer-Centric World.”
Seth Godin’s Blog – Seth Godin is the author of 18 best sellers which have been translated into more than 35 languages, and the only one on this list with his own action figure. He writes about the way ideas spread, marketing, leadership, and change. His blog (which you can find by typing "seth" into Google) is one of the most popular in the world.
The Hub – The Hub is an excellent marketing technology resource. It tracks the marketing technology industry, players, and tools, and helps brands and agencies make more informed decisions about how to improve their marketing operations and systems.
PR Daily – PR Daily is a daily news site that delivers news, advice, and opinions on the public relations, marketing, social media, and media worlds.
PR In Your Pajamas – Anything pajama related gets our attention, but this blog is far more than a clever title. PR In Your Pajamas is one expert’s effort to help marketers, PR professionals, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and non-profits to become more successful.
Spin Sucks – Spin Sucks is the agency blog of Arment Dietrich. It covers social media, online PR, and more. We love the topical approach and particularly appreciated a recent post that covered the PR behind Taylor Swift and her recent jostle with Apple.
PR Conversations – This international blog reflects a variety of voices including in-house executives, consultants, independent practitioners and others with information and opinions to share about public relations.
6 A.M. – 6 A.M. covers trends in communications, as well as the issues, lessons and insights gathered from Richard Edelman, president and CEO of Edelman.
We get that there are only so many minutes in the day, but we recommend that you subscribe and check in with each of these great resources from time to time. You never know when you’ll find just the right bit of inspiration.
