The New York Times has promoted Mona El-Naggar to correspondent out of the paper's Cairo bureau. She was most recently a New York based senior producer The Times and led international reporting for The Dispatch. Before New York, she spent eight years as a reporter in The Times’ Cairo bureau and covered the growing discontent leading up to the Arab Spring.
Olivia Beaton is the new editor for Senior Living News, covering elderly care and long term care.She was most recently a marketing assistant at Drawing Booth and before that spent four years as social media manager at The Chart Room.
Bloomberg News has promoted Yinka Ibukun to West Africa bureau chief. She is based in Accra, Ghana and will oversees coverage in 21 countries. She was most recently a West Africa business reporter for the newswires and joined the staff in July 2013. Prior to that, Ibukun spent a decade as a freelance journalist in Lagos, Nigeria, and contributed to The Guardian UK, Christian Science Monitor, British Airways HighLife Magazine, Time Out Nigeria, Oxford Business Group, Global Witness, Corporate Accountability International and more.
Dave Levinthal will join Business Insider in Washington, D.C., as senior Washington correspondent. Most recently he was a federal politics editor and senior reporter and then editor-at-large at the Center for Public Integrity. Levinthal is a former reporter at Politico and covered lobbying, campaign finance and other political influence issues and co-authored the Politico Influence column.
Michelle Franzen has been promoted to midday news anchor at ABC News Radio, joining Cheri Preston, Daria Albinger and Rich Cantu in the network's weekday lineup. She has been with ABC Audio since 2015 when she joined as correspondent. Prior to that Franzen was a national correspondent at NBC News.
WDIV-TV, the NBC station in Detroit, has promoted Grant Hermes to weekend anchor, two months after he joined the station as a reporter. Prior to WDIV-TV, Hermes was a reporter, anchor and producer at KXXV-TV in Waco, Texas.
Colleen Carew has returned to WZBA-FM radio in Westminster, Maryland, as morning host. She comes from WOCM-FM in Ocean City, Maryland, where she was on-air 2-6 p.m. weekdays. Carew previously spent 13 years at WZBA-FM, from 2004 to 2017, and served as on-air host of the 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. timeslot.
