Media Moves at Allure & WIRED, NBC News Hires Award-Winning Investigative Reporter

The New York Times has announced that Elaina Plott has joined the Politics desk to cover the 2020 campaign. She will cover the state of the Republican Party, the future of Trumpism, and the people, relationships and ideas defining the right. Plott most recently covered the White House for The Atlantic and has also been on staff for Washingtonian magazine

Jessica Cruel has joined Allure magazine as features director. She was most recently the deputy beauty director at Refinery29 and before that spent almost three years as the senior beauty and style editor at Self magazine. Cruel has also worked for Popsugar and Hearst Digital.

NBC News has hired Gretchen Morgenson as a senior financial investigative reporter. She started Dec. 2 and will lead reporting on the intersection of money and power. Morgenson is an award-winning investigative journalist who spent two decades at The New York Times and won a Pulitzer in 2002 for coverage of Wall Street. Most recently, she served as senior special writer in the investigations unit at The Wall Street Journal.

Susan Brickell has joined Meredith’s Health Brands as senior digital editor for Health and Shape magazines. She was most recently working as a freelancer writer/editor for Health and before that she wrote lifestyle and wellness stories for Rachael Ray Every Day, StyleCaster, Golf Digest, Siempre Mujer, and more.  

WIRED has brought on Gilad Edelman as a Washington, D.C.-based senior writer covering tech and politics. He comes from The Washington Monthly, where he spent the past three years, most recently as executive editor.

Martin Coulter has joined Business Insider as a London-based tech reporter. He was previously a tech reporter at the Financial Times for a little over a year, and before that had a brief stint at the Daily Star in London as a news reporter. Coulter has also worked for the Evening Standard and News UK.

KIRO-TV, the CBS affiliated station in Seattle, has recruited Tracey Leong as a morning anchor. She comes from KTTV-TV in Los Angeles where she worked as a reporter for two months. Before that, Leong spent almost five years at WJZ, the CBS station in Baltimore as a weekend morning anchor and reporter.   

Anthony Kustura has joined WSOC-TV, the ABC/Telemundo station in Charlotte, North Carolina as a general assignment reporter.  Previously, he was a freelance reporter at WPBF in West Palm Beach, and an anchor/reporter at KMTR-TV in Eugene, Oregon before that.
