Axios has hired Kadia Goba as a Congressional reporter. She comes from BuzzFeed where she reported on Congress and politics in general for almost two years. Before that, Goba was a political reporter for Bklyner, the daily neighborhood news site for Brooklyn in New York, and a reporting intern for Newsday Media Group prior to that.
Neil Bedi will join ProPublica's Washington, D.C., newsroom Feb.1 as a reporter covering federal government agencies. He is currently wrapping up his duties as an investigative reporter at the Tampa Bay Times, a position he has held since 2019. Prior to that, Bedi was a technology analyst at JPMorgan Chase where he developed software for investment banks on Wall Street.
Miami Herald has named Monica R. Richardson executive editor, making her the first Black top editor in the paper's 117-year history. Richardson starts Jan. 1 and will focus on growing the media company’s audience and digital subscriptions. She is a 30-year veteran of the news business and most recently served as the senior managing editor of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Richardson has also worked at the Charlottesville Observer, Florida Times-Union, and Lexington Herald-Leader.
After making its Stateside debut in October, popular magazine Grazia USA has tapped David Thielebeule as editor in chief. He spent the past eight years at WSJ. as style director and before that served as the accessories director at Allure and a senior editor at Harper's Bazaar. Grazia USA is the joint venture of Gruppo Mondadori and New York-based Pantheon Media Group LLC who partnered to create a print magazine, a digital platform and a website for the US audience. The site launched in October and is planning to release a series of digital covers in 2021. There will also be a quarterly print edition launching in September 2021. Italy-based Grazia is available in 23 countries including the UK, Australia, Mexico, and India.
Tyler Pager is the new White House correspondent for Politico covering the Biden/Harris transition. He was most recently a national political reporter for Bloomberg News out of D.C., and before spent a year as a reporting fellow at The New York Times.
WJAR-TV, the NBC station in Providence, Rhode Island, has welcomed Tyler Dumont as a reporter and multimedia journalist. He was most recently a freelance reporter at WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire, and before that spent two years at KPTV in Portland, Oregon.
KZKX-FM (KX 96.9) radio in Stewart, Nebraska, has announced several staff updates:
- Program director Rob Kelley has moved from middays to afternoons. He is on-air weekdays from 3 - 7 p.m. and serves as operations manager for KFOR / KZKX / KTGL / KFRX / KIBZ / KLMS.
- Coryelle has joined the morning team alongside JP and Husker Nick. She is on-air weekdays from 5 - 10 a.m., and previously hosted the afternoon block.
- Megan Rider has joined the station as the midday host and is on-air weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. She was most recently the midday host at KEZO-FM in Omaha, Nebraska.
