Media Moves at Business Insider & Associated Press, Tampa Bay Business Journal Hires a Money Reporter

The Associated Press has promoted Susie Blann to serve as news director and special events editor for the United Kingdom and Ireland. She most recently worked as the head of planning for Europe and Africa with a focus on video coverage for the outlet since 2015. Blann has been with the AP for more than 15 years, and before that she worked as a producer for BBC World Service from 2002 until 2005.
 
Rachel Greenspan has joined Insider as a digital culture reporter. She makes her move after working at TIME magazine for almost two years, first as a digital producer then as a reporter focusing on entertainment, lifestyle and culture.
 
Tampa Bay Business Journal has named Luke Torrance money reporter covering banks, venture capital firms, and public companies in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. He most recently worked at the Pittsburgh Business Times as a producer for more than a year. Prior to that Torrance served as a reporter for Blank Slate Media covering the Port Washington area as well as the Nassau County government. He has also worked for outlets such as The Post Athens, The Hill, and SB Nation, among others.
 
Business Insider has announced two hires:
 
  • Kimberly Leonard has joined as a senior healthcare reporter focusing on health policy and politics in the Trump administration, the 2020 campaign, and on Capitol Hill. Most recently, Leonard spent more than three years at the Washington Examiner as a senior health policy reporter where she often interviewed members of Congress, Trump administration officials and covered healthcare political transformations on Capitol Hill. She also spent more than four years with U.S News & World Report as a health care reporter covering medical studies and health care reform.
  • Blake Dodge has joined as a health care reporter focusing on the intersection of health care and tech, machine learning, and data privacy. She most recently served as a general assignment fellow for Newsweek where she covered drugs and health care. Prior to that she worked for Bloomberg as a health reporter focusing on health care, medical devices, election spending and markets.
 
WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washington D.C., has hired Sharla McBride as a sports anchor and reporter. She makes the move after spending more than 12 years at WNEP-TV, the ABC affiliate in Scranton, Pennsylvania, first as a sports anchor and reporter, and most recently as an evening news anchor. McBride has also been a sports reporter for NBC Sports Philadelphia.
 
KRQQ-FM radio in Tuscon, Arizona, has announced two staff additions:
 
  • Celina Martinez has joined to host the midday slot for the station. Martinez will do duo duty for the Tuscon radio airwaves as she will continue to host mornings for sister station KXEW-FM.
  • Gabriella 'Gabby' Diaz has joined to host nights for KRQQ-FM. She has been on the airwaves for the past 10 years, first at KPRW-FM in Los Angeles, and most recently hosting the afternoon drive time for KYLD-FM in San Francisco.
