Media Moves at Business Insider & VICE, Newsy Welcomes a News Editor

Business Insider has announced four new hires: 

  • Aaron Holmes has joined as a technology reporter. He was most recently a tech fellow for the outlet for the past seven months. Before that, he served as a Metro intern for the Tampa Bay Times. Holmes has also interned for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, New York Daily News, Gotham Gazette among other publications. 

  • Kadia Tubman has joined as a weekend editor, taking over the weekend operations. She makes her move from Yahoo News where she spent more than two years as a politics reporter and freelance reporter. Tubman also previously served as a journalist fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.  

  • Michelle Abrego has joined as a finance editor. She comes from Citywire USA where she served as a news editor since 2018. Before that, Abrego served as deputy editor at Citywire Americas for three years. She has also previously covered regulations and politics for the financial adviser trade publication New Model Adviser. 

  •  Jeff Elder has joined as a correspondent based in San Fransisco and covers cybersecurity and artificial intelligence with a focus on Silicon Valley. He makes his move after serving as a senior managing editor for Avast, and prior to that he sereved as an editor for Salesforce where he managed the Salesforce blog for more than one year. 

Sarah Svoboda has been named the newest Los Angeles-based producer for VICE News. She most recently served as a White House producer and general producer at BBC News for four years. Prior to that, Svoboda worked for Bloomberg LP as a television producer, BBC World News America as a producer, and PBS NewsHour as a production assistant.  

Newsy has tapped Andrew Herrmann as a news editor based in Chicago. He most recently worked as a senior editor at DNAinfo.com for more than five years. Herrmann also had spent more than 28 years at the Chicago Sun-Times serving as a reporter, editor, op-ed columnist, and managing editor. 

David Dishman of The Oklahoman has been promoted to business editor after serving as a business writer covering retail and business subjects for more than two years. Prior to joining The Oklahoman, he worked at the McAlester News-Capital as a staff writer and digital editor for more than four years.  

CoStar has named Rohit Shevni Diwadkar as its first visual information journalist. He will collaborate with reporters to create stories and infographics for CoStar. He makes his move after serving as an analytics intern for The Chemours Company in Wilmington, Delaware. 

KCMO-AM in Kansas City, Missouri, has promoted assistant program director and morning show host Pete Mundo to program director. He will continue to host his morning show that he has helmed since April 2018. Prior to joining KCMO-AM, Mundo worked at Fox News Radio as an anchor for more than two years and before that as a producer and college football analyst for Sports Illustrated. 

Chris Connors has been named the newest program director for WLXC-FM in Columbia, South Carolina. He makes his move after spending 19 years as the operations manager for the Columbia cluster of Alpha Media radio stations.  

WISC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin, has tapped Sarah Gray to serve as news director. She succeeds Colin Benedict who recently exited the station after 11 years as news director. Gray comes from WSAW-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin, where she was the news director, and prior to that served as an executive producer for WBAY-TV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, for five years.
