The New York Times has announced several promotions and an addition to its editorial staff:
- Inyoung Kang is the new deputy weekend editor at the Washington bureau. She has spent the past three years as an editor and producer on the News Desk in New York and London, working on our home screens and briefings. Before that she was a copy editor and web producer on Metro, BizDay and Foreign/National.
- Edgar Sandoval has moved to Metro as a reporter covering law enforcement, crime, courts and general assignments. He joined The Times in 2018 as a stringer and before that spent a decade at the New York Daily News.
- Jim Rutenberg has shifted to an editor at large position and will split his time between the Politics team and the Sunday magazine. He will focus on investigations, long-form stories and profiles. Rutenberg has been with The Times for almost two decades mostly as an investigative reporter.
- Nancy Donaldson Gauss has been promoted to associate managing editor of the Video team. She was most recently the executive director of the team and has been on staff since 2013.
Maria Martinez Romero has joined Dow Jones Newswires as a reporter on the EMEA desk in the Barcelona bureau. She covers European economics. She was previously a production assistant for Bloomberg LP in New York City and before that worked as features editor of the Columbia Journal of International Affairs.
POLITICO has hired Lauren Morello as a deputy editor on the Healthcare team. She was most recently the Americas bureau chief at Nature and spent seven years with the publication. Prior to that, Morello was a science reporter for E&E News.
Mary Irby-Jones has been named top editor of the Clarion Ledger and the Hattiesburg American in Jackson, Mississippi. She was most recently the digital director for the Clarion Ledger where she oversaw a regional digital operation for the eight newsrooms in the Deep South. She returned to Gannett in May 2019 after 12 years of working for Cox Media Ohio in Dayton, Ohio, where she oversaw a 24/7 digital team for three Ohio newspapers and WHIO-TV and Radio.
KRIV-TV, the Fox station in Houston, Texas, has welcomed Matthew Seedorff as a news reporter. He has previously served as an evening news anchor for KTWO-TV in Casper, Wyoming, and a sports reporter for WRC-TV in Washington.
Jenna Jackson has been promoted to weekend evening anchor at KWQC-TV, the NBC station in the Quad Cities. She was most recently a reporter at the station and has been on staff since 2017. Prior to that, Jackson was a bureau reporter for KCWY-TV in Casper, Wyoming.
ABC’s KGUN-TV in Tucson, Arizona, has hired Lydia Camarillo as a morning anchor and hosts the “Good Morning Tucson” program. She comes from KOLD-TV, where she spent the past seven years as an anchor/reporter.
