Media Moves at Forbes & Crain's New York Business, The Block Hires a News Editor

Forbes has named Andrew Solender as its latest news desk reporter, focusing on politics and the 2020 presidential election. He most recently served as the editor in chief for The Vassar Insider, the campus news and political publication for Vassar College. Solender also spent more than two years as a political correspondent for Luminary Media, covering general politics as well as focused on the New York 2019 congressional election. Moreover, he's served as a contributor for Psychology Today, an intern with MSNBC, a features editor for The Beaver Newspaper among other local publications in New York.
 
The Block has added Mike Orcutt as its news editor. He has been with the MIT Technology Review for nearly ten years, initially joining as a research editor and most recently serving as a senior reporter. He also interned for both Scientific American as well as Popular Mechanics.
 
Veteran journalist Ashleigh Banfield has joined Court TV as a special contributor. She most recently served as an anchor for her "Crime & Justice with Ashleigh Banfield" show that aired on HLN. No stranger to Court TV, she previously co-hosted various programs for the network starting in 2005, one of the major assignments Banfield covered was the Casey Anthony trial in 2011. She is also well known for her tenure at CNN, joining in 2012 as a co-anchor for the network's early mornings show, "Early Start." In 2013 she was promoted to anchor her own midday slot known as "Legal View with Ashleigh Banfield". She has also previously served roles at CBS, MSNBC among others.
 
Crain's New York Business has tapped Natalie Sachmechi as a reporter covering commercial real estate. She has been with Forbes for the past two years, first as a leadership reporter and most recently a billionaires reporter where she calculated and tracked the net worth of global billionaires as a part of the annual Forbes billionaires list. Sachmechi has also worked as a national desk intern at CBS.
 
Danielle Sacks has been promoted to editor in chief for Marker, the business vertical of Medium. She has been serving as the executive editor for the publication for the past year. Prior to joining Marker Sacks worked at Inc Magazine for more than four years, first as a senior editor later promoted to executive editor. She also spent a more than ten year collective run at Fast Company, beginning in 2003 as a reporter and finally reaching senior writer status in 2010.
 
WHTA-FM, known as "Hot 107.9  Atlanta" has announced changes to their on-air lineup:
 
  • Johua Nicks, known on-air as "J Nicks", moves from hosting nights to his new airtime of hosting afternoons. J Nicks now broadcasts during the weekday 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. timeslot. A well known local DJ personality, Nicks has also appeared on TV as a supporting cast member for the 5th season of the hip-hip artist series "Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta".
  • Erin Rae also makes a shift in her schedule, moving from her overnight slot to now hosting the 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. weekday midday slot. Rae joined the airwaves of Atlanta on WHTA-FM two years ago.
