The Chicago Tribune has designated Paul Sullivan as its “In the Wake of the News” columnist. He succeeds David Haugh, whose freelance position was eliminated in January. Sullivan is a longtime baseball writer for the Tribune and has been on staff since 1981.
Alex Presha has joined ABC News as a multi-platform reporter, based out of the network’s Washington bureau. He comes from NBC’s San Diego affiliate KNSD-TV, where he was the political reporter and host of “Politically Speaking.” Prior to that, Presha worked as a producer at MSNBC.
BioPharma has hired Ben Fidler as senior editor. He comes from Xconomy where he served as a deputy biotech editor since 2018. Prior to that, Fidler served as senior reporter at The Deal LLC, where he covered M&A transactions, venture financing, and more.
Jonathan Wosen will join the San Diego Union-Tribune in April as a reporter. He will cover the biotech industry and the San Diego Zoo. Wosen was most recently a science writing intern at the Annual Reviews and has also previously interned at Stanford University School of Medicine. He has also worked at STAT News and freelanced at Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology News.
S&P Market Intelligence has welcomed Jacob Holzman as a reporter covering the mining industry. He comes from CQ Roll Call where he most recently served as energy and environment reporter for two years. Prior to that, Holzman was a legislative researcher for CQ Roll Call and a reporting intern at the New England Center for Investigative Reporting.
Emily Jo Favilla has joined CNN Underscored as deputy editor. She spent the past seven years at BuzzFeed in a variety of positions, most recently as senior manager, brand voice. Favilla was previously an instructor at MediaBistro Education and before that served as copy chief at Teen Vogue for almost two years.
InvestmentNews has brought on Sean Allocca as deputy managing editor. He was most recently editor of Financial Planning and before that served as an editor at CFO magazine. Allocca has also worked for Advantage Business Media as the editor of the print, digital and online publication Forensic Magazine.
Valentina Palladino is the new commerce editor covering product reviews for Engadget. She comes from Ars Technica where she spent five years, most recently as senior commerce editor. She has also worked at Tom’s Guide and The Verge.
