Tim Marcin will join Mashable at the end of January as a reporter covering the Internet and culture. He was most recently freelancing for VICE News and before that spent two years as a writer for Newsweek covering politics and culture.
CNN Business has assigned a new beat for senor writer Parija Kavilanz. She now covers retail, consumer trends and brand innovation, and previously reported on entrepreneurship and startups. She is a veteran CNN Business writer and joined the outlet in 2000.
Katherine Krueger has joined Elle as digital features editor. She comes from Gizmodo Media Group where she most recently led Splinter site as managing editor. Prior to that, she was a senior editor for Splinter. Krueger has also previously worked as breaking news editor for Fusion Media Group.
The New York Post has welcomed Steven Nelson as Washington reporter. He most recently reported out of the White House for the Washington Examiner, and before that spent four years at US News & World Report as politics and legal affairs reporter. Nelson has also worked for The Daily Caller.
Michael Porter has joined the Philadelphia Business Journal as managing editor. He spent the past years as managing of the PR Institute and before that worked as digital content director for Advance Local and manager on the national desk for Advance Digital. Porter has also worked for Philly.com as sports editor.
Bloomberg Industry Group has tapped longtime business journalist Aaron Kessler as a reporter spearheading an investigative unit. He will lead investigations and use data science and analysis for investigative projects tackling the intersection of federal agencies, Capitol Hill and the business world. Kessler comes from CNN where he spent the past three years as senior producer of the politics team. Prior t that he covered the auto industry and regulation for The New York Times.
Matt Taylor has joined The Daily Beast as national editor. He was most recently a senior editor for VICE Magazine and has been with VICE Media since he joined the staff as associate editor in 2014. Before that, Taylor spent two years as politics editor/producer for Louise Blouin Media. He has also freelanced for New York magazine, Salon, The New Republic, and The Atlantic, among other publications.
WCVB-TV, the ABC station in Boston, has hired Bill Sheerin as managing editor. He spent the past 17 years at Boston’s Fox station WFXT-Tv, most recently as news assignment editor. Sheerin has covered major news events in the Boston area including the Boston Marathon bombings.
WPIX-TV, the CW affiliate in New York, has added two new reporters to their morning lineup:
- Ben Aaron has joined the station as features reporter. He was previously a reporter for WNBC-TV and the “New York Live” show.
- Marysol Castro has also joined the station as features reporter. She spent the past four years a host on ESPN and has also previously worked for WPIX-TV in New York and CBS News before that.
