Cosmopolitan has reshuffled its beauty team and announced two promotions and a new hire:
- Julee Wilson has joined the staff as beauty director, and replaces Carly Cardellino, who departed in January. She is responsible for driving beauty content across all print, digital and social platforms. Wilson was previously global beauty director at Essence and prior to that, held various editorial positions at HuffPost and Real Simple.
- Lauren Balsamo has been promoted to deputy beauty director, upped from senior beauty editor. She will manage the day-to-day of print beauty content. Balsamo has been on staff since 2013, when she joined Cosmo as a beauty intern.
- Chloe Metzger has also been promoted to deputy beauty director and will manage digital beauty content. She was previously a senior beauty editor and has been with Cosmo since early 2018, and before that worked for Marie Claire, Allure and Stylecaster.
Ginger Gibson is the new deputy Washington digital editor at NBC News. She was previously a Washington correspondent for Reuters and has covered politics and lobbying companies under the Trump administration, among other topics. Gibson has also previously worked at International Business Times and POLITICO.
ProPublica Illinois has recruited Tony Briscoe as an investigative reporter; he starts April 13. Briscoe spent the past six years as an environmental reporter for the Chicago Tribune and has written extensively about issues facing the Great Lakes and the impacts of climate change in the Midwest. Prior to that, Briscoe worked for The Detroit News and covered breaking news across Metro Detroit.
Tracey DeAngelo has been named vice president and general manager for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She has been with Block Communications since 1997 and most recently served as the Post-Gazette’s chief marketing officer.
The Denver Business Journal has hired Ethan Nelson as data reporter. He is responsible for exclusive List content and will oversee and execute data projects on a variety of topics of interest to business owners and executives. Most recently, Nelson was a metrics analyst with TMP Worldwide where he designed visualizations and dashboards detailing campaign performance.
