Media Moves at Quartz, PR News & TSNN, PAPER Magazine Promotes One

Mario Abad has been promoted to fashion editor at PAPER magazine. He is responsible for overseeing the publication's digital fashion coverage and writes features and breaking news related to the fashion vertical. He joined PAPER in 2019 and has since served as a fashion reporter at the publication. Prior to that, Abad worked at ELLE for three years as a fashion and beauty assistant.

U.S. News & World Report has named Susannah Snider senior editor, financial advisors. She was most recently the senior editor for personal finance and has written consumer-focused articles on taxes, family finance, debt, credit, and more.  Snider has been on staff at the paper since 2014 and before that worked as a writer/researcher at Kiplinger's Personal Finance.

Nicole Schuman has been promoted to senior editor at PR News. In her new position, she will play a more integral role in helping to develop the group’s content strategy based on analytics, and she will work closely with the marketing team on a revamped social strategy. Schuman will continue to cover PR, communications and media news and trends, and has been on staff since April 2019.

Quartz has announced three new hires:

  • Jordan Lebeau has joined the Curation Team as deputy email editor. He comes from Analytics Graphics, Inc. where he was a marketing content writer and before that worked in a similar capacity at Wakefern Food Corp.  Lebeau, has also previously worked at Gizmodo as a contributing editor and The New York Times as a staff editor.
  • Samanth Subramanian has joined the London bureau as a senior reporter covering the future of capitalism. He spent the past four years as a freelancer and has written for The Guardian, The New York Times Magazine, the New Yorkers, WIRED, and other publications.
  • Roya Wolverson has re-joined the U.S. staff this time as a senior reporter covering the future of capitalism. She had previously served as the deputy global news editor and deputy Europe editor based in Paris. Prior to that, Wolverson worked for Time magazine as global business editor.

Matt Swenson has joined Trade Show News Network (TSNN) as editorial director. He will oversee TSNN and Corporate Event News, the online resource for corporate event planners. Swenson was most recently the editorial director of Connect's B2B publications and websites, including Connect Association, Connect Corporate, Connect Faith, Connect Expo and Connect Sports. Prior to that, he served as assistant managing editor at Washington Post Express, a daily publication in Washington, D.C., of which he was a founding editor in 2003.

Rachel Rippetoe is the new legal industry reporter at Law360. She was most recently a contract elections data reporter at the Associated Press and before that reported for Mott Haven Herald. Prior to that, she interned at City Limits and the Nashville Business Journal.

NBC's WOAI-TV in San Antonio, Texas, has welcomed Simone De Alba as evening anchor. She has joined Randy Beamer on the 10 p.m. anchor desk. De Alba was most recently the morning anchor at KTXL-TV in Sacramento, California, and before that has anchored for KTVQ-TV and KRTV-TV in Montana.

Jeff Kulikowsky is now the evening co-anchor at WSYR-TV, the ABC station in Syracuse, New York. He will deliver the news on the 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m. newscasts alongside Christie Casciano. Kulikowsky is a veteran reporter at the station and has been on staff since 2000. He succeeds Rod Wood, who retired in November.

WRC-TV, the NBC station in Washington, D.C., has named Jummy Olabanji co-anchor of News4 Today, the station's morning show. She joins Eun Yang for the 4:30 - 7 a.m. newscast and will start her new position in January. Olabanji has been at WRC-TV since mid-2019 and before that worked for WNBC-TV in New York.
