The Atlantic has welcomed Nick Baumann as politics editor. He was most recently the senior enterprise editor at HuffPost, a position he has held since 2015. Prior to that, Baumann spent eight years at Mother Jones, and nine years before that at The Economist.
Madison Flager has joined Condé Nast Traveler as commerce editor. She spent the past three years at Hearst, most recently as lifestyle editor for Delish.com. Prior to that she contributed to Gitt.co and the Food Team of the Greatist as an intern.
The Hollywood Reporter has hired Inkoo Kang as TV critic, effective Jan. 6. She will write television reviews and critical columns about the TV landscape. Kang comes from Slate, where she was a staff writer covering both television and film. Before that, she was a chief television critic at MTV News and TV critic at the Village Voice.
Lyndsey Layton has been named deputy editor of the Climate and Environment Team at the Washington Post, and will help drive daily news reports while taking primary responsibility for shaping our new Climate Solutions initiative. Layton has been with The Post since 1998 and joined as national staff reporter. Most recently she served as politic editor.
The Los Angeles Times has hired Boris Kachka as books editor, effective Jan 13. He comes from New York magazine, where has been books editor for several years, and a writer and editor since 1998. Kachka is also the author of several books, including “Hothouse: The Art of Survival and the Survival of Art at America’s Most Celebrated Publishing House, Farrar, Straus and Giroux” and “Becoming a Veterinarian.”
Angelica LaVito has joined Bloomberg News as a reporter on the Health team, effective Jan. 6. She previously covered healthcare, pharmaceuticals and biotech as a reporter for CNBC, and before that interned at Politico and Chicago Tribune’s local newspapers.
Kaiser Health News has brought on Rachana D. Pradhan as a reporter covering healthcare policy and its impact across the U.S. She spent the last five years at Politico Pro as healthcare reporter. Before that, Pradhan worked for Inside Health Policy’s Health Exchange Alert as chief editor.
Benjy Sarlin is the new policy editor for NBC News in Washington, D.C., working with the political unit and across NBC to shape policy coverage. He was most recently a political reporter for NBC News and joined the staff in 2013. Prior to that, Sarlin served as political reporter for Talking Points Memo and The Daily Beast before that.
WISC-TV, the CBS-affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin, has named Amy Reid political reporter. Her coverage will include the 2020 presidential campaign and election, and state political leaders. Reid has been with the station for 18 months and will continue the station’s popular Reality Check franchise.
