The Boston Globe has hired Gregory T. Huang as business editor. He comes from Xconomy, where he oversaw daily news and features as editor in chief. He had been with the outlet since 2008 and before that served as features editor at New Scientist magazine. Prior to that, Huang was a senior writer at MIT Technology Review and has also written for Wired, Nature and The Atlantic.
Amanda Barrett has been promoted to deputy managing editor for the Associated Press and will join News’ senior leadership team. In this role, Barrett will continue to lead the Nerve Center and will take on new responsibilities overseeing newsroom talent development across both International and the U.S. Barrett has been with AP since 2007 and was most recently the Nerve Center director.
Inside Cybersecurity has welcomed Sara Friedman as a reporter covering supply chains, software, loT and elections. She was most recently a reporter and producer at GCN and before that spent four years at Gambling Compliance as a reporter.
The CNBC.com newsroom has added two:
- Melodie Warner has joined the staff as a news editor to help manage our website. She comes from Bloomberg News, where she had worked since 2014. Before that, Warner spent 17 years at Dow Jones, where she was a copy editor and writer for The Wall Street Journal’s real-time news desk. She joined The Journal after managing a 30-person copy editing staff and daily operations of the Dow Jones Newswires’ spot news and media monitoring desks.
- Pippa Stevens has joined the Markets team as a reporter focused on energy and renewables, as well as the growing environmental, social and governance investing movement. She previously worked as a producer on CNBC's midday show "Fast Money Halftime Report," where she produced a wide variety of daily segments. Before CNBC, she worked as a production assistant at Fox Business.
Bryan Walsh is the new future correspondent of Axios and author of Axios Future, the newsletter on megatrends that comes out twice a week. Hi started Feb. 18. Walsh comes from TIME magazine where he spent almost two decades in a variety of positions including Tokyo bureau chief, senior editor, and most recently a contributor.
WFAA-TV, the ABC station in Dallas, has hired William Joy as a reporter. For the last two years he has been a reporter at KMBC-TV in Kansas City, Missouri, and before that worked as a reporter and multimedia journalist for WAVE-TV in Louisville, Kentucky.
Blake Hanson has been promoted to weekend evening anchor as well as a news reporter for KDFW-TV, the Fox station in Dallas. He joined the station in 2017 as a reporter and before that worked for WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina.
