Arit John has joined the Los Angeles Times as a reporter covering the 2020 election. She was most recently a freelancer covering politics and culture, and before that was a contract reporter for The New York Tomes Styles section. John has also previously reported for Bloomberg as part of the Congress team.
Hospitality Design has hired Caitlin St. John as digital editor. She was previously an associate editor for the New York and Hamptons editions of Cottages & Gardens magazine, where she covered the luxury home furnishings market for almost three years. She has also worked for Meredith Corp as an editorial assistant for Parents.com.
Two reporters at Albuquerque Journal have new coverage:
- Stephen Hamway now covers economic development, health care and tourism in Albuquerque and across the state of New Mexico. He had covered retail and real estate for the Journal and has been on staff since May 2019.
- Pilar Martinez now covers the retail/real estate beat after spending four years writing about weekend breaking news. Before joining the Journal, she worked for a media group in Washington D.C. covering Congress.
Kathryn Walson is the new reporter for CEO Update, covering CEO leadership and management in the association and non-profit sector. She was most recently a background check administrator for the Certified Financial Board of Standards, and before that served as a staff writer for the Center for International Private Enterprise.
Hearst has welcomed Jennifer Hussein as beauty editor for BestProducts.com. She was previously a beauty editor at COOLS, where she wrote feature content on individuals/brands challenging the mainstream perception of the fashion and beauty industries. Prior to that, Hussein was a junior beauty editor at Skincare.com.
Steve Turnham has joined Newsy as managing editor and will lead and help build Newsy's newsgathering unit. Turnham was most recently a supervising producer for Chasing the Cure with Ann Curry, and before that has freelanced for Lincoln Square Productions and CNN. He has also worked for ABC News as senior producer with ABC’s Global Affairs unit as senior Washington producer for This Week with George Staphanopoulos.
KGTV-TV (ABC) in San Diego has promoted Sarah Cowan to assistant news director, upped from executive producer. She has been with the station since 2008 and has worked as a producer for the nightly newscasts. Prior to that, Cowan was a producer for KUSI-TV in San Diego.
Sophia Beausoleil has joined KXAS-TV (NBC) in Fort Worth, Texas, as a reporter. She comes from KPRC-TV in Houston where she spent more than three years as a reporter. Beausoleil has also reported for KXAN-TV in Austin, Texas, and WCIA-TV in Urbana, Illinois.
KTAR-FM radio in Glendale, Arizona, has hired Mike Broomhead as a host of the AM Drive “The Mike Broomhead” show airing weekdays at 8 a.m. to noon. He comes from a 14-year run as a morning host at KFYI-AM in Phoenix, Arizona.
