- Chloe Fox has come on as manager editor. Most recently she served as executive editor for the Boston Review Magazine. Fox has held posts at the Boston Global Media and HuffPost as a freelance writer and editor, respectively.
- Alec Ash has been named books editor. Ash recently published the book Wish Lanterns and serves as managing editor for LARB China Channel.
- Kara Greenberg has been promoted to assistant editor. She joined the staff in 2019 as a research associate and coordinating manager. Before joining The Wire China, Greenberg was a paralegal for Loomis, Sayles & Company.
Apoorva Mandavilli will join The New York Times May 18 as health and science writer. She previously served as a freelance writer for The Times since 1999 and most recently has aided in covering the coronavirus. Mandavilli is also the founding editor in chief of Spectrum and co-founder of the Culture Dish.
The Wire China, the Boston-based weekly digital news magazine covering China's financial markets, biggest companies, and business elite, has announced two new hires and a promotion:
WFOR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Doral, Florida, has hired Brooke Shafer as a reporter. She comes from WINK-TV, the CBS affiliate in Fort Myers-Naples, Florida, where she served as a reporter and fill-in anchor for three years. Before that, Schafer was an anchor and reporter for WCJB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Gainesville, Florida.
Christopher Gasper has joined WCVB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Needham, Massachusetts, as a reporter. He has served as a contributor for the station since 2008. Most recently, Gasper was a sports columnist for The Boston Globe for seven years.
WDJT-TV, the CBS affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has hired Meghan Reistad as a morning anchor. Most recently, Reistad served as a news anchor and reporter for WMTV-TV, the affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin for three years. Before that, she was a news anchor and reporter for KAAL-TV, the ABC affiliate in Austin, Minnesota.
