Sally Holmes has been appointed editor in chief of Marie Claire, and succeeds Aya Kanai, who is leaving to join Pinterest as head of content and editorial partnerships. Holmes joined Hearst Magazines in 2014, and has been with Marie Claire since 2018, first as digital director, overseeing all content for the brand’s website and social platforms. In January 2020, she was named executive editor, managing the team on both print and digital.
The Sacramento Bee has welcomed Jeong Park as a reporter at the Capitol Bureau. He covers California's economic inequity. Park comes from the Orange County Register where he spent two years reporting on Orange County. Prior to that, he was a reporter at the Journal and Courier in Lafayette, Indiana.
Josh Capers has been named sports editor for the Clarion Ledger and Hattiesburg American in Mississippi. He is a longtime USA Network journalist and has been with Gannett since 2007. Since 2011, he has worked for the Louisville Design Studio out of The Courier Journal in Louisville, Kentucky.
- Naomi Millán has been promoted to editor of Building Operations Management. She was previously a senior editor and has been on staff since 2007.
- Greg Zimmerman has been promoted to chief editor for FacilitiesNet, upped from executive editor. He has been on staff since 2003.
- Dan Weltin is the new editor in chief for Trade Press Media Group's Facility Market publications, including Building Operating Management, FacilitiesNet, Facility Maintenance Decisions, and Healthcare Facilities Today. He was previously the top editor for digital and print media for Contracting Profits and Sanitary Maintenance.
Wade Tyler Millward is the new reporter at The Real Deal South Florida. He comes from EdSurge, where he was most recently a business reporter. Prior to that, he worked at the Las Vegas Review-Journal covering retail and general assignment for the business desk.
NPR/National Public Radio has hired award-winning public radio journalist Priska Neely to lead their joint Gulf States Newsroom. She will build a team of regional beat reporters who cover healthcare, criminal justice, economic justice and more. Neely will be based at WBHM in Birmingham, Alabama, and will work closely with Gulf States Newsroom partner stations WWNO in New Orleans, WRKF in Baton Rouge and Mississippi Public Broadcasting in Jackson, along with NPR. She previously reported and produced long-form narrative stories for Reveal. Before that, Neely was a senior reporter at KPCC in Pasadena, California.
Leif Erickson has been promoted to director of programming and operations for WFNK-FM in Portland, Maine. He was most recently the assistant program director/music director and has been on staff since 2005.
KARK-TV, the NBC-affiliated station in Little Rock, Arkansas, has hired Laura Monteverdi as an evening anchor. She will co-anchor with Bob Clausen on KARK 4 News weekdays at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. She previously spent five years at THV11 in Little Rock, most recently as the morning show co-host.
