The Wall Street Journal has hired Katie Deighton as a reporter for The Experience Report, the vertical that delivers news and analysis on the ways that companies optimize data, technology and design to communicate with customers. Deighton was previously with The Drum and served as a senior editor out of New York.
Mallika Mitra has joined Money as a reporter. She was previously a news intern at Bloomberg where covered municipal finance. Prior to that, Mitra interned at CNBC and covered retail, media and personal finance. She has also covered local news for outlets including The Brooklyn Daily Eagle and Bklyner.
New York Times columnist Frank Bruni has taken over as co-host of "The Argument," podcast alongside Ross Douthat and Michelle Goldberg. Bruni takes the spot from David Leonhardt, who has left Opinions and has become the writer, host and anchor of "The Morning," The Times's re-branded flagship newsletter.
Jama Killingsworth is the new general manager of NBC affiliate WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Alabama, effective May 11. She comes from WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where she has served as the general manager for four years. In that role, she has expanded newscasts, significantly grown digital revenue, and strengthened community partnerships.
KKTV-TV, the CBS station in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has promoted Kerri Blanco to general manager, effective May 4. She has been the director of sales for the station for the past nine years. Blanco has been in media for 27 years and throughout this time she also served in various roles at the NBC affiliate in Colorado Springs, including local sales manager and national sales manager.
Joe Vaccarelli is the new investigative producer for KMGH-TV, the ABC station in Denver, Colorado. He spent the past four years at The Daily Sentinel as a business/health reporter, and has also worked as Denver reporter for ourHub.
